Meet Danielle Miro, Ph.D., ABPP-Rp

Dr. Danielle Miro is a licensed, board-certified rehabilitation psychologist. She is centrally involved in leadership roles within the Society for Health Psychology and she serves on the Board of the American Board of Rehabilitation Psychology. She uses an integrated approach to her work, which is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment-based Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help people nurture a balanced, healthy lifestyle to reduce stress, cope with serious health and medical issues, and improve overall wellbeing. ​Dr. Miro earned her doctorate at the University of Memphis in Counseling Psychology following completion of her master’s degree in Counseling at the University of Denver. She then completed her pre-doctoral clinical internship at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she also completed her post-doctoral residency in neuro-rehabilitation psychology. Dr. Miro has worked in various specialty medical settings, providing individual and group therapy as well as offering trainings and education to graduate and medical students and healthcare providers. Like all of our team members, Dr. Miro has experience and passion for work in health-focused weight loss/maintenance, pre- and post-bariatric surgery support, as well as the treatment of binge and emotional eating, diabetes management and acute or chronic pain. Additionally, through her work in multidisciplinary medical settings, Dr. Miro has developed clinical interests and expertise in helping people adjust to, adapt to and recover from serious medical conditions (e.g., stroke, burns, Covid-19, etc.), rehabilitate from intensive or critical care hospitalizations and from neurologic, orthopedic, and organ transplant surgeries. She has also worked in oncopsychology providing psychological support across the continuum of care for persons diagnosed with cancer. Additionally, she has a strong passion for working with care partners and loved ones of persons with acute or chronic medical illnesses to promote compassionate, respectful, and holistic care partnerships understanding that sickness influences the familial system.  Dr. Miro aims to promote whole-person care, positive well-being, and a focus on a values-filled life. She understands the importance of the mind-body connection, in which physical health, sociocultural considerations, and psychological health are interrelated. She works to encourage collaboration, mindfulness and acceptance, utilizing personal strengths, clarifying personal values and developing healthy and adaptive ways of being, thinking and feeling. ​Dr. Miro works exclusively via our HIPAA compliant telehealth platform. She is PSYPACT approved to offer telehealth services in more than 30 states around the US.
