Meet Danielle Miro, Ph.D., ABPP-Rp

Dr. Danielle Miro is a licensed, board-certified rehabilitation psychologist. She aims to promote whole-person care, positive well-being, and a focus on a values-filled life. She understands the importance of the mind-body connection and works to encourage collaboration, mindfulness and acceptance, utilization of personal strengths, clarification of personal values and development of healthy and adaptive ways of being, thinking and feeling. Dr. Miro's therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment-based Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). She has expertise and passion in supporting individuals and their care partner's adjustment and adaptation to acute or chronic medical conditions including pain, diabetes, cancer, obesity, and autoimmune syndromes or diseases. She also has extensive experience supporting persons recovering from serious medical events or critical care hospitalizations (such as stroke or acquired brain injury, burn, orthopedic injury, organ or bone marrow transplant, surgery). Her years of work in rehabiliation settings has given her extensive experience with issues related to aging as well. Like all of our team members, Dr. Miro has experience and passion for work in health-focused weight loss/maintenance, pre- and post-bariatric surgery support, as well as the treatment of binge and emotional eating. Additionally, Dr. Miro has experience in working with health care providers including physicians, medical residents, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and nurses. Dr. Miro earned her doctorate at the University of Memphis in Counseling Psychology. She completed her pre-doctoral clinical internship at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she also completed her post-doctoral residency in neuro-rehabilitation psychology. Dr. Miro has worked in various specialty medical settings, providing individual and group therapy as well as offering training and education to graduate and medical students and healthcare providers. Dr. Miro has completed additional training & education in areas of mental health and diabetes, mindful eating, and living with chronic illness. As a provider, Dr. Miro aims to help people nurture a balanced, healthy lifestyle to reduce stress, cope with serious health and medical issues, and improve overall well-being. Dr. Miro promotes compassionate, respectful, and holistic care understanding the psychosocial dynamics of illness or disability. Dr. Miro works exclusively via our HIPAA compliant telehealth platform. She is PSYPACT approved to offer telehealth services in more than 30 states around the US.
